The Idea of a Friends Revival Gives One of Its Stars Literal Nightmares
Could we *be* any more upset by this news?
We are living in peek revival times, folks. If there's an old TV show that even has a sliver of a story left to tell, someone somewhere will revive it. This all means that Matthew Perry lives in constant fear that the Friends cast will get the call to bring their beloved show back to life. And, he's got a pretty good reason for that level of paranoia.
"I have this recurring nightmare – I’m not kidding about this. When I’m asleep, I have this nightmare that we do Friends again and nobody cares. We do a whole series, we come back, and nobody cares about it," he told Variety. "So if anybody asks me, I’m gonna say no. The thing is: We ended on such a high. We can’t beat it. Why would we go and do it again?"
Chandler does, however, have this imaginary TV project that he'd love to bring to life in lieu of that other, way more famous one. "In my head I have this TV project that I’d write. That’s what the fantasy for me is, next. Somewhere on television. But my brain just thinks of darker s*** than what is expected on a four-camera comedy, or at least on the ones that are on TV now," he said. "What I see is serious stuff that, as a bonus, happens to be funny."
