Dr. Simone thanked fans for their support during this difficult time.
Dr. Simone Whitmore announced that she has filed for divorce from her husband Cecil Whitmore after 21 years of marriage last week. Now Married to Medicine fans are rallying behind the OBGYN as she goes through this difficult time.
Many Married to Medicine fans have been tweeting their support to Dr. Simone since she shared the news on January 25. Dr. Simone expressed her gratitude for their kind words and showed that she is staying strong, saying in posts that "God continues to shine his light on me" and "cheers to new beginnings!"
Following a season of Married to Medicine in which she and Cecil have been open and honest about their marital issues, Dr. Simone revealed in an interview with PEOPLE that she filed for divorce from her husband in October 2017. She said that she and Cecil "let life take over" with their busy schedules as parents to sons Miles, 19, and Michael, 15, after this season of Married to Medicine, and she admitted that they "should have continued counseling." Dr. Simone also cited a "blow-up" about a month after they dropped Miles off at college as the "day that my marriage was over."
Dr. Simone shared that she planned to have the divorce paperwork finalized once she returned home from Atlanta after filming this season's Married to Medicine reunion in New York City last week. “There is no if here, there are no games. I am not pretending, I am done,” Dr. Simone told PEOPLE. “I have reached a place where I am in a marriage where I do not feel loved and no sacrifices are being made for me to make me feel loved. I must move on.”
