Madison Hildebrand Says He Gets 'Vulnerable' in New 'Million Dollar Listing'

The 'MDL' guys talk confidence, New York and their work-life balance.

By Mike Hess

After watching Frederik Eklund and his competition plow through New York real estate recently, Madison Hildebrand, Josh Altman and Josh Flagg are chomping at the bit to bring things back to the west coast to give Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles fans a glimpe of the sweet life. And with the return of the LA incarnation of the show tonight (9/8p Central), the flashy mansion mavens sat down to talk about the impending drama.

During a conference call, while all of the guys agreed that the NY-based MDL was good and all, none of them have any plans to pack up and head to Gotham. "They dress good out there, but at the end of the day, I don't think they can hang with us," Flagg boasted, while Altman noted that he just worked with Frederick to close a deal on a $10 million brownstone in New York.

The trio also spoke about how taxing the job can be, as it's an on-call-all-the-time gig that can easily take over your life.

"It took a couple years to learn to not be affected emotionally when I left the office and not let the clients or deals bring me down," Hildebrand said. "Now it's been compartmentalized and I have to have my time to go exercise or go in the ocean ... just find that time where I don't have to pay attention to my phone."

Mr. Altman is the opposite -- and he embraces the demand of the job. "When you're a realtor of this caliber, it's a lifestyle that you choose. I do bring it home with me, I'd rather be doing that than anything else," he told us.

Hildebrand also told us to expect "a much more vulnerable and emotional way than you've seen before" in the upcoming season. Judging by the preview clip, he's dead-on about that.
