Luann de Lesseps Is Writing a Book About Her Night in Jail: "I Want People to Know What I Went Through"
The RHONY author hopes to clear things up about her Palm Beach arrest on Christmas Eve 2017.
Luann de Lesseps is adding another tome to her collection.
The Real Housewives of New York City author, whose book, Class with the Countess: How to Live with Elegance and Flair, was published in 2009, recently revealed to E! News that she is currently penning a book about the night she spent in jail when she was arrested in Palm Beach on December 24, 2017.
"I'm working on a book right now. I want people to know what I went through that famous night because I feel like I've been misunderstood and misrepresented in the press and so I'm really looking forward into getting that into diary form. I really have kept a diary all these years, these past couple of years when things have gone south for me. It's therapeutic for me right now to work on this book," Luann shared.
After Luann was arrested on Christmas Eve 2017, she was later charged with resisting an officer with violence, in addition to trespassing and disorderly intoxication. She has since completed two stays in treatment. Previously it was reported that her parole was expected to end in late August, one year after she accepted a plea deal in her case. She headed back to court in May 2019, explaining to DailyMailTV: "I went back [to court] because I had violated my probation because I slipped." Her court appearance came weeks after reports surfaced that she admitted to having had two mimosas after a performance in Chicago, according to TMZ and Us Weekly.
She gave an update on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen earlier this month: "The outcome was that I got stricter probation rules until the end of August. So I'm almost done and then this will be behind me 100 percent."
Luann further elaborated about the arrest to E! News. "The legal situation has been really difficult for me. I've paid dearly for that one horrible night," she said. "A lot of the reports that have been made about me have not been accurate."
She also gave a preview of what to expect at Part 3 of the Season 11 reunion. "The Part 3 reunion is really about all of us coming to terms to where we are at this point in our lives. There's a lot more tears, a lot more drama, and a lot more reconciliation," she teased. Catch Part 3 this Thursday at 9/8c. Preview, below.
