Juliet Angus Reveals the Most Surprising Thing About Caroline Stanbury
The #LadiesofLondon star spills secrets about her posh BFF.
It's not always easy being an American trying to fit in with British high society. There are a lot of rules one must abide by to truly fit in with London's upper crust. And if anyone can attest to that, it's Chicago-native, Juliet Angus, who has had to readjust her way of thinking to U.K. standards.
"There are so many! It’s not the language, but the way they do things here. In America, we do things very quickly," the Ladies of London star told the Sun Times. "I always make the comparison with TiVo and multi-recording five different things at once and technology, ATMs and drive-thrus. You do get spoiled in America with access to everything bigger and better. Cultural things are done slower [in London]. Things are not done out of convenience, they’re done out of tradition. They don’t believe in shortcuts."
But perhaps she has her Chicago childhood to thank for her ability to adjust to British life. "The simple things in life really matter [in Chicago] — you know, catching fireflies in your backyard and releasing them because you didn’t want to harm them. I think growing up there there was a sweet value system. You spend summers riding bikes to go get ice cream. Not everything’s handed to you — you work for it," she said. "Plus, the weather! You had to deal with getting on with life and toughing it out. Chicago is a well-rounded place."
Of course considering this American girl has been invited into the high society of London, she did share some things you might be surprised to know about Britsh babe Caroline Stanbury. "She is super, super loyal and a really great friend," Juliet gushed about her pal. "You see her being off-the-cuff, which is tough. I talk to her almost every single day and our families adore each other. We’ve gone on vacations together, we go to their house in the country, we go to dinner a lot. My friends are her friends and her friends are my friends. It just really, really naturally became a great friendship."
