Kyle Richards Denounces Kathy’s Comments about Mauricio: “I Don’t Need...” (EXCLUSIVE)
Kyle Richards shut down her sister Kathy Hilton's comments about her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, during the RHOBH After Show.
During Season 14, Episode 2 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kyle Richards came to her estranged husband Mauricio Umansky's defense after her sister Kathy Hilton made some jokes at his expense. And in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show, she further denounced Kathy's comments.
"I think that Kathy thinks that's sticking up for me, but I don't need anyone to put him down to make me feel better. I care about him, I don't know, I don't like when people make jokes or comments like that. I get defensive," Kyle explained in the video above. "I think she thinks, like, 'Oh, I don't want her to feel bad about them being separated so I'm going to say bad things about him so I don't remind her of any good times.' That's like, her logic. People will say that. Like, 'I'm mad at him because of...' And I'm like, 'It's OK.'"
Although the couple has been separated since the summer of 2023, they've stayed on good terms, and neither party has officially filed for divorce.
"It just hasn't felt like any reason, any pressing reason to. And it just, I don't know, feels big and dramatic," Kyle said during an appearance on the Housewives Nightcap podcast earlier this month. "I wish I had a better answer because I actually don't.... I don't know, he moved out, and he does his thing, I do my thing..."
What did Kathy Hilton say about Mauricio Umansky?
While having a pajama and pizza party during the November 26 episode, Kathy cracked a couple of jokes about Mauricio's looks and shirtless gym selfies.
"He looks good," Kyle said. "Don't be mean."
"I don't want to do that, it doesn't make me feel good," she added, to which Kathy responded, "I thought it would."
Inside Kathy Hilton and Mauricio Umansky's relationship
During the episode, Kathy noted that her relationship with Mauricio is convoluted — especially because he allegedly made some comments about her husband, Rick Hilton, and his company (Rick and Mauricio used to work together before Mauricio left to start The Agency).
"Over the years, you know, we've had our ups and downs with Mau," Kathy admitted in a confessional. "I heard from other people that he was talking a lot about Hilton & Hyland and Rick on his show, [Buying Beverly Hills]."
Still, Kyle explained in the After Show that Kathy and Mauricio have a cordial relationship today. "If they saw each other, they would both be very nice to each other," she said.
