Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula's wedding has definitely been a source of stress for the couple on Season 4 of Summer House. After their wedding venue fell through and they found themselves back at square one, Kyle was intent on finding another place quickly and growing frustrated with Amanda's laid-back approach to wedding planning.
Fortunately, nowadays the couple is in a much better place — both in their relationship and in their wedding planning progress. In an interview with The Daily Dish podcast, the two shared some major updates.
"We have set a date, it’s in September. And it’s a fairly local venue. So we’re incredibly excited. It’s gonna be like kind of like a New York City wedding," Kyle revealed.
And we won't need to wait until next season to see their planning progress: "We actually went looking for a venue on camera. So, it actually worked out," he added.
He also told The Daily Dish in another interview that he was looking forward to his wedding being "a night full of highlights — all the people we care about in one room celebrating us. I'm also just dying to see what dress she picks."
Last year, Kyle explained what happened with their previous venue in an interview with Page Six. "One of the venues we actually looked at was in Vermont, which is very near and dear to my heart,” he said. “It’s where my mom’s from, so she was willing to play ball, but that’s actually the one we got cold feet on. [Another] we missed the deadline on — a corporate event took it."
The wedding stress was complicated by the fact that they had just moved in together and Kyle wasn't shy in expressing his distaste for what he perceived as Amanda's messiness and time spent on the couch — which in turn made Amanda feel like she was living with her dad. However, it seems the two have come to understand one another better. She further touched on the couple's tensions in an Instagram post.
"Just as there are no rules for dating, there are no rules for engagements (except the tv show). Some people elope, go to city hall, plan their wedding in less than a year, or are engaged for 5+ years before getting married. Kyle and I went through a lot right before getting engaged, and I am so glad he is so excited to get married, but I needed more time," she explained. "I also want our wedding to be the wedding of our dreams and I need the time to make that happen. After months of looking, we found what we though was the perfect venue. When it fell through, I couldn’t just pick up where we left off because I felt like we exhausted all of our options. I felt defeated."
Amanda wanted to make one thing clear while viewers watch her relationship with Kyle. "You can make all the assumptions you want about our relationship and engagement. You can place all the bets on if we’ll get married or not. But every single relationship in this world is different and that’s what makes them all so special."
