Kristen didn't shy away from heated conversations in Season 1 of The Valley. She did, however, occasionally get the facts wrong. In her defense, as she told boyfriend Luke Broderick in Episode 7, "words are hard." It's an honest, and honestly relatable, expression. So we put it on a t-shirt to honor the self-proclaimed empath, as well as on a notebook, for the pun.
Throughout The Valley Season 1, Kristen had strained her relationships with some of her fellow cast members for appearing to talk about some behind their backs. In Season 1, Episode 6, for example, Kristen said at a group dinner that cast member Jesse Lally had planned to divorce his then-wife Michelle Saniei "within two months." This came as a shock to the group, and prompted Luke to address Kristen's behavior when it was just the two of them.
After the dinner, Luke sat Kristen down to give her some real talk about how her actions were affecting their extended friend group. As he saw it, the group was beginning to see Kristen as "a liar" and he was concerned for them both. After all, he had been the one to tell Kristen something about the Lallys in the first place. The problem was that it wasn't exactly what Kristen brought up at dinner.
Luke explained that the actual news about the Jesse and Michelle was almost the inverse of what Kristen had said. As the Coloradan described his recollection of his conversation with Kristen, "I said he doesn’t see [their marriage] lasting more than the next couple or few months." He added, "I didn’t say he wanted a divorce and that’s kind of, I think, where people are calling you a liar, is that a word is changed and that has different implications."
“I agree,” she said, “End of story.”
"When a word or two is changed, it can change the whole meaning," Luke continued.
To this, Kristen replied, “Words are hard."
They are hard! Remembering the details of what goes on with so many people — and what they say about each other — will inevitably lead to some miscommunication. Maybe if the group got these notebooks, things will go a lot more smoothly for them in The Valley Season 2.
