Kim Zolciak-Biermann Reveals How Her Mini-Stroke and Surgery Affected Her Kids: "KJ Has Taken it the Worst"
The #DontBeTardy mom shares how her family coped with her recent health scare.
It's been a rough couple of months for Kim Zolciak-Biermann. The Don't Be Tardy mom suffered a mini-stroke in September and then underwent a successful heart surgery in October. Of course, Kim's health scare hasn't only impacted herself but also her family, especially her four-year-old son KJ Biermann. "It's been hard on my kids, but KJ has taken it the worst," Kim said in an exclusive interview in this week's issue of PEOPLE.
Kim had just leaned down to hug KJ when she suffered the mini-stroke, and her eldest son remained in the room as it was happening. "I was trying to tell my nanny to take him away during the whole thing, but she was too worried about me," she said.
After that, Kim told PEOPLE that KJ had "been kind of difficult to handle." When he learned that Kim was going to have surgery she said, "He kept asking every night, 'Mommy is it tomorrow?' It broke my heart."
Luckily, KJ is "a totally different baby now that it's over," said Kim, who also revealed that her son visited his mother in the hospital right after her surgery and spent the night with her. "He actually asked me this morning, 'No more hospitals, right Mommy?' And I was like, 'No more, honey.'"
Once Kim gets back on her feet, hopefully she'll be able to participate in adorable bonding activities with KJ and his siblings like the one featured in the clip, below.
