Kenya Moore Explains Why She Initially Kept Her Husband's Identity a Secret
The #RHOA newlywed also revealed whether she's ready to start a family.
When Kenya Moore first announced that she had tied the knot earlier this month, we were, of course, dying to know the identity of her mystery man. Soon enough, The Real Housewives of Atlanta entrepreneur revealed that the lucky lad was businessman Marc Daly.
Kenya explained why she initially kept Marc's identity a secret during a recent interview with PEOPLE. “He didn’t sign up for this world, I did,” Kenya said. “Every time someone has been associated with me, they attack that person – immediately going after them, trying to bring them down and saying crazy things. They tear people apart. And so for [Marc], he was like, ‘This is about me and you — it’s not about me or you.’ He just wanted it to be about our pure love and not about him."
Actually, it was the fact that Marc didn't care about Kenya's celebrity, just her love, that attracted her to him in the first place. “That’s why I fell in love with him,” Kenya gushed. “For him, it’s about being my protector and my best friend — not being someone that stands next to me, but someone who supports me and is okay with being behind me sometimes. He doesn’t want my money, he doesn’t want my fame, he doesn’t want my success — he just wants my heart, and he has it.”
Kenya and Marc had met about a year ago through their mutual friend and fellow Bravoleb Chef Roblé Ali, but they didn't begin dating until December. However, she doesn't believe that she rushed into getting married. In fact, Kenya told PEOPLE that she would have gotten married 30 days after they first started dating, but they "wanted to wait and get to know each other and make sure it wasn’t an infatuation" and "to make sure it was actually real." “I always strongly believed I don’t want to get married just for the sake of getting married," Kenya said. “I’ve never been that girl and I will never be that girl. Which is why, if it’s not what I feel in my heart and my soul, I will not do it. I will not do it for cameras, I will not do it for somebody else to feel good about who I am. I have to do it for myself.”
Now that Kenya has found Mr. Right, will the RHOA entrepreneur make her dreams of becoming a mom come true soon? “We both want to start a family and soon — like, right away,” she shared. “We both want a child.”
Kenya hasn't revealed too many other details about her hubby, but we have caught glimpses of him in a few gorgeous photos that she has shared of her big day on Instagram since the two tied the knot in an intimate beach ceremony in St. Lucia on June 10.
