Kenya Moore Chokes up While Talking About Her Future with Her Estranged Mother
"For her to actually acknowledge my daughter, like God is good," The Real Housewives of Atlanta mom said.
It's been a difficult road for Kenya Moore and her mother, who have not had a close relationship for much of The Real Housewives of Atlanta entrepreneur's life. However, there was a glimmer of hope that these two could one day repair their relationship when Kenya's mother sent her granddaughter, Brooklyn Doris Daly, a gift for her first birthday in December.
"My prayer has always been to have a family. We had a late celebration for @thebrooklyndaly for her birthday and got a surprise of a lifetime. My mother sent her a gift for her," Kenya wrote in the caption to a post on Instagram published on December 24, 2019 that featured the clothing her mother gifted to Brooklyn. "I had stopped praying about our relationship but God sent a message through my child. This is life. And despite challenges God is always on time."
Kenya shared an update on where things stand with her mother now when she stopped by The Real on January 29. "The relationship is pretty much the same," she said, adding that she almost didn't believe it when her mother reached out. "I have not spoken to her basically all my life, and for her to actually acknowledge my daughter, like God is good. Where we go from there, I don't know, but the fact that she acknowledged her meant the world to me."
Along those lines, Kenya said that she's going to wait and see how things progress from here. "I just want to have things happen organically," she said.
