Kathy Hilton Reveals Unseen Drama with Mauricio Umansky: "I Heard..."
In a preview for RHOBH Season 14, Episode 2, Kathy Hilton reveals past "ups and downs" with Mauricio Umansky.
Kyle Richards is navigating her life without Mauricio Umansky on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14 — and now, her older sister Kathy Hilton is about to enter the conversation.
In a preview for Season 14, Episode 2, which will air on Tuesday, Nov. 26, Kathy and fellow cast members Sutton Stracke and Erika Jayne pay a visit to Kyle's Encino home — which Mauricio recently moved out of.
There, Kyle tells the ladies that she spent some time looking at her wedding photos "the other day."
"We were so young, 23," Kyle says, which you can check out by watching the video at the top of this post. "And then I started crying."
Kathy then takes an interesting approach to try to make her sister feel better. "I mean, Kyle, you look like you could be his daughter," Kathy responds. "He has aged."
Kathy proceeds to make a motion like she's doing a chest press, and in an interview on the episode, Kyle explains, "I think my sister is referencing Mau's Instagram Stories where he's in the gym. And I just don't like it."
"I don't want to do that," Kyle responds to Kathy on the couch. "It doesn't make me feel good."
"I thought it would," Kathy admits with a shrug.
From there, Kathy goes on to open about her tenuous relationship with the real estate mogul. "Over the years, you know, we've had our ups and downs with Mau," Kathy admits in an interview of her own. "I heard from other people that he was talking a lot about Hilton & Hyland and Rick [Hilton] on his show, [Buying Beverly Hills]."
"We don't discuss him," she continued. "I would say the only advice I could give would be just to move on."
Why is there drama between Kathy Hilton's family and Mauricio?
Kathy's daughter Paris Hilton feuded with Mauricio in March 2024 over remarks he made about how he left Hilton & Hyland (and subsequently severed his working relationship with Paris' dad/Kathy's husband, Rick Hilton) on Buying Beverly Hills.
Paris, more specifically, defended her father against Mauricio, who argued that he's "always taken the higher road" and would "never talk negatively about his family — especially in the press."
"Frankly, we are all sick of [Mauricio] using the Hilton name every chance he gets to plug his lame show," Paris added at the time. "It's enough already."
Mauricio later acknowledged Paris' remarks, stating, "Look, it's sad she got so upset about that, but at the end of the day, it's two businessmen making business decisions."
What's more, he said there was "no bad blood" on his side.
Kathy Hilton's advice for Kyle about divorcing Mauricio
In the above preview clip, Kathy and the other ladies decide to give Kyle advice about taking the next steps in her split.
"I think going forward, you might need a poker face," Sutton, who divorced Christian Stracke in 2016, says. "I mean, at least for me, I had a husband who was really, really powerful, and I was like [a] deer in the headlights."
"If I did anything it was trust too much," Erika agrees, referring to her own 2020 split from Tom Girardi. "Just prepare — that's all."
Kathy, meanwhile, advised Kyle to "make sure you're protected."
"Because you've obviously brought a lot to the table," Kathy adds.
Kyle hears what her sister and castmates are saying, but she thinks things are different in her situation with Mauricio.
"We only have the utmost respect for each other through this process," Kyle tells the ladies. "He sent me flowers on Mother's Day."
