The Southern Charm cast member took to Instagram for the first time since her mother, Allison Calhoun Dennis, passed away on August 7. Kathryn shared a photo from her older brother Luke Dennis Jr.'s wedding in December 2018. The photo shows the entire Dennis family posing with the groom and his bride, Natalie Verenes, including Kathryn, her mother, her father, Luke Dennis Sr., and her two children. Kathryn wrote "family" in the caption to the photo, along with a heart emoji.

Members of the Southern Charm crew sent their condolences to Kathryn and her family in the comments to the post.

"Sending you allllllll the love in the world. KD I am so so sorry for your loss," Naomie Olindo wrote.

"Love you to pieces, Kat. Your mom is so proud of [you]," Danni Baird shared.

Kathryn's boyfriend, Hunter Price, also sent his love. "You’re the strongest, and most beautiful woman that I’ve ever been so lucky to love," he wrote in the comments to her Instagram post. "Your mom will always be with you no matter what; just as I know she’s always been."

Allison passed away last week at her residence in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, according to an online obituary posted by Dial-Murray Funeral Home. She was 59.

A descendant of John C. Calhoun, the seventh vice president of the United States, Allison was a retired administrator, diversity at Santee Cooper.

All services will be private, according to the obituary. The family requests memorials be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.

Kathryn opened up to PEOPLE in April about how "incredibly close" she was to her mother. “My mom’s my best friend,” she said. “She stuck by me through so much. I don’t know what I would do without her.”

She also shared that her mother once moved in with her during a past battle with cancer. “She was sick for a year and a half and I was taking care of her,” Kathryn told PEOPLE. “She’s since been living with me, essentially. It’s great to have her around, especially because she’s so good with the kids. She’s amazing. She’s the best mom I could ever hope for with everything.”
