The Below Deck alum posted an adorable video of her toddler's Christmas celebration at grandma's.
Kate Chastain’s little boy is growing up so fast.
Although it’s been two years since Kate announced she was entering motherhood, it seems just like yesterday that the Below Deck alum welcomed her first child, Sullivan Cay. Since then, Kate has blessed fans with regular updates on her son, posting photos and videos of his precious milestones, including his first birthday celebration, his first beach day, and his first time crawling.

On Sunday, December 22, Kate took to Instagram to provide another update on her 1-year-old boy. And it was equal parts adorable and funny. The video showed Sullivan Cay walking — yes, walking — around his grandparents’ living room as Kate and her mother tried to get his attention.
“Let’s go look at the Christmas lights!” a voice was heard in the background. “C’mon!”
The little boy moved quickly toward his grandma before he abruptly stopped and changed course toward the indoor Christmas tree.
“He’s not wrong,” Kate said with a laugh.
Sullivan Cay began pointing to the multi-colored string lights as Kate started naming the colors: “Yellow, green, white...”
Moments later, the boy’s grandma asked him if he wanted to “see the lights outside.” Sullivan Cay immediately rushed into his grandma’s arms.
“Yay! Good boy,” she said.
Kate Chastain opens up about motherhood
Kate welcomed Sullivan Cay on May 5, 2023, less than five months after she debuted her baby bump. The former chief stew confirmed she would raise the boy as a single parent but was confident her yachting background had prepared her for motherhood. However, she quickly realized that parenting was much more difficult than she anticipated.
“You have to teach them literally everything,” she told Entertainment Tonight last summer. “It is so much different than I expected, so much more difficult, so I think that was healthy for me. I love a challenge. But a lot of moms would DM me on social media over the years and be like, ‘I’m the chief stew in my house! I’m chief stew at my home! I’ve got three kids, I cook dinner, I’ve got to do their laundry and all their rooms and, you know, picnics...’ I said, yeah, I guess it’s kind of similar. Good for you, but now I’m like, I wish I could tell all of those moms you had it so much harder!”
