As Andy Cohen put it during Bravo FanFestJennifer Tilly is very rich — and during Season 14, Episode 3 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the new friend of the cast gave some insight into her flush finances.

"My ex-husband was Sam Simon, who created The Simpsons. I was married to him for seven years and we were together for about 10 years," explained Jennifer. "And then when we got divorced I got a piece of The Simpsons in the divorce settlement, and nobody knew that The Simpsons was going to go on for trillions of years."

"So every day, honestly, every day I'm like, 'Thank you, Sam,'" she concluded.

Who is Jennifer Tilly's ex-husband?

Jennifer and Sam Simon (who passed away in 2015) were married from 1984 to 1991. During a November 2021 appearance on Los Angeles Magazine's "The Originals" podcast, she revealed that her portion amounts to about one-third of his ongoing earnings from The Simpsons.

“I used to do a lot of movies because the roof was leaking, or to pay for the plumbing, and now I don't have to,” she said on the episode.

What does Jennifer Tilly do for a living?

The longtime best pal of the one and only Sutton Stracke, Jennifer is an Oscar-nominated actress. She received the Best Supporting Actress nod for her work in 1994's Bullets Over Broadway!, but you'll also find her in the Chucky franchise, Liar, LiarMonster's Inc., Made in America, Family Guy, and The Fabulous Baker Boys. On top of all that, Jennifer's a professional poker player.

During the aforementioned podcast interview, Jennifer also mentioned that her family had been concerned she'd lose her money to a potential gambling addiction — which apparently runs in her family.

“My grandparents on my dad's side were really, really rich,” she explained. “My Aunt Marie told me that when my great grandparents came to America, they came first class and were very, very wealthy. And my grandfather was going to UCLA to study medicine and he had to cut his studies short and fly back to China because his brother had gambled away the family fortune. My Aunt Marie was like, ‘Oh my gosh, she is going to succumb to the family vice.’"

Jennifer, however, has proven to be a very successful poker player. In addition to winning several high-profile tournaments, she was inducted into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame in 2022.
