You'll Never Guess Which Career Jeff Lewis Almost Had Instead...
The Flipping Out boss' life could have looked very different.
Frankly, we can't imagine Jeff Lewis doing anything but putting his stylish stamp on the homes he's hired to fix up and decorate. But, Jeff wasn't always on the track to becoming the Flipping Out interior designer and house flipper we know and love today. In fact, back in his college days, he tried his hand at majors like pre-law and political science.
“We are influenced by our parents. My dad wanted me to be an attorney,” he told Locale magazine. As the story goes, he eventually found his calling and knack for all things home after he took an elective course in, you guessed it, interior design, back at university.
While he may not have taken on the career his pop had in mind for him, he did inherit his dad's work ethic. “My dad had a big influence on me. He is a very hard worker, very smart and adaptable," he said. And he did learn some lessons from his dad, who often had multiple jobs while Jeff was a kid. “I never knew anything else. It is the norm to work late, to work weekends," he said, adding his dad “could have had a bit more balance. There could have been a little bit more family time.”
In the end, though, Jeff, who welcomed his first child last October, notes that “whatever his faults were, my dad raised three, self-sufficient, independent boys.”
We wonder if his little girl, Monroe, will also take after her dad...
For now, you can check out Jeff and Monroe on Flipping Out Thursdays at 9/8c. Check them out in action, below.
