Dr. Heavenly Reveals She "Upgraded" Her Original Engagement Ring from Dr. Damon (EXCLUSIVE)
Married to Medicine's Dr. Heavenly Kimes shared a touching story about her original engagement ring from Dr. Damon Kimes.
Dr. Heavenly Kimes and her husband, Dr. Damon Kimes, have been married for over 25 years, and their love story is still going strong. During a recent interview with The Daily Dish, Heavenly spoke about what makes their marriage successful and revealed an interesting story about her engagement ring from the MD.
"I was in dental school [and] my husband was in the medical school at Meharry Medical College. We had been dating about three and a half years. Everybody who knew me knew him, and we were inseparable," the Married to Medicine cast member began during our exclusive interview. "He had proposed before, but he didn't have a ring, and I was pregnant for five months."
Heavenly continued by noting that because they didn't have much money at the time, she was worried about the options available to gift her an engagement ring. "I was thinking, 'Okay, he can't give me [a] rubber band or whatever!" she joked. "Some kind of way, that man came out and got me a nice ring. He had worked as a security guard to get me a diamond ring. He proposed, and we've been in marital bliss ever since."
Though Heavenly was happy to receive the diamond sparkler at the time, she revealed she "upgraded" her jewelry after the fact. "I actually have that ring on a necklace," she shared. "I have upgraded since then. But yeah, I have that diamond on a necklace, so it's always close to my heart."

Inside Dr. Heavenly and Dr. Damon Kimes' Marriage
In a 2020 interview with Essence, Heavenly recalled how she and Damon met and why they hit it off right away.
“He was leaving class early, and I was coming to class late,” she recalled as Damon added, “She was one of the cool ones and she had an amazing personality. I really gravitated toward her.”
The duo, who share three children together, Damon Jr., Zachary, and Alaura, celebrated Damon's 50th birthday and 23 years of marriage together back in July 2020 with an epic celebration — and more dazzling jewelry.
In the video below, Heavenly documented the celebration in their backyard, which featured plenty of gorgeous decorations including numerous purple and gold balloons, fire pits, cool purple lights, several gift bags and even two ladies hired to act as mermaids in the pool for the partygoers.
The following slide showed the diamond rings the married couple ostensibly gifted each other for their anniversary. They were, in a word, stunning.
