Heather Thomson: Jax Is 'Unbelievably Triumphant'
The RHONY star gives a health update on her son.
This season on The Real Housewives of New York City, Heather Thomson was seen dealing with some serious health issues that have plagued her nine-year-old son, Jax, for all of his life. Born with a liver condition that caused him to go through a transplant as a baby, Jax has also been dealing with respiratory and hearing issues since. On this season, Heather and her husband Jon were deciding whether to go through with a surgery on his eardrums to help him avoid wearing hearing aids.
Now Heather has revealed to The Wrap that they opted for a different "less invasive option" after getting a second opinion and, so far, it seems to be working. "We just had a hearing test and it's showing his hearing is a little bit better in one of the ears, so we're just following this path right now and we're on a steady course," she says.
The Thomsons also continue to monitor Jax's liver, revealing that "blood gets drawn all the time and we watch his liver function numbers and that's stable completely right now." They also use an apparatus for Jax's chronic lung disease. "It's just something he's going to live with, but it's not going to kill him," Heather shares.
Despite all of these challenges, Jax maintains an inspiring and joyful outlook on life. "Jax has so many challenges but none of them really seem like a big deal when you look at the kid, he's just unbelievably triumphant. His new things is Legos, he's been building them obsessively all week," Heather says. "He's so good, he really is."
