Captain Glenn Experiences a First With Upset Guests: “Hope to God It’s the Last”
See why Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Captain Glenn had to stop sailing on Season 5, Episode 12.
During Season 5, Episode 12 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht — which aired December 30 — Captain Glenn Shephard had to deal with a seasick guest by ... stopping the journey altogether.
After a new group of charter guests arrived on board Parsifal III, the crew set sail to provide them with their dream Spanish vacation. However, they weren't pleased with the amount of tilting that went on while the boat was gliding through the water.
"Are you uncomfortable? Do you want us to stop?" Captain Glenn asked after hearing them (once again!) comment on how they were "leaning" over.
"Yes," a guest responded, much to his surprise.
In a confessional, Captain Glenn broke down how strange the situation was.
"This is the first time I'm being asked to stop sailing. And I hope to God it's the last," he said.
Still, he followed their wishes. With everyone right side up, he and the crew put the sails away and dropped their anchor.
Besides the rocky ride that kicked off their vacation, the charter guests had a number of complaints that they brought to the crew's attention.
Some were displeased with the size of their bedrooms, while others didn't like the taste of the cocktails Daisy Kelliher taught them to make. Other issues included the sheer amount of food that Chef Cloyce Martin prepared for their seven-course dinner, the service style, and the fact that they apparently couldn't find any garbage cans.
The Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew's reaction to the charter guests on Season 5, Episode 12
Even before the request was made, the crew theorized that something was off with this group of guests.
"This is going to be a bad one," said Danni Warren soon after they boarded the sailboat for their one-night charter.
"It's strange. Yeah, it's just the energy," Daisy responded.
Later, when the chief stewardess put on the aforementioned cocktail class, she was once again met with a displeased audience.
"Naturally, I'm a people pleaser. And I can not read what's going on with these guests," she said in a confessional. "This feels super f-cking weird. It is pulsating how uncomfortable everybody feels."
So, will there be a tip after all of that drama? Tune back into Below Deck Sailing Yacht on Monday, January 6 to find out.
