Gizelle Bryant’s Daughter Candidly Reveals College Life Has “Shocked” Her

Plus, Gizelle has an idea of taking a class of her own, especially now that she's about to be an empty nester.

It’s back-to-school time for Gizelle Bryant’s daughters on The Real Housewives of Potomac, but if things went Gizelle’s way, they’d be “back in a bassinet.”

How to Watch

Fans of the series have watched Gizelle and Jamal Bryant’s three children grow before their eyes, reaching milestone after milestone since 2016. The Housewife has been open during Season 9 about what life may be like as an empty nester once 18-year-old twins Angel and Adore Bryant are off to college.

Thankfully, Gizelle has her eldest daughter, Grace Bryant, 20, to allay any apprehension, giving insight into her own college experiences in Season 9, Episode 9.

“I mean, there was ups and downs,” Grace told her mother, touching on her grandfather, Curtis Graves, who passed away in July 2023 during Grace’s freshman year. “But I feel like I did good. I shocked myself.”

Where is Grace Bryant today?

In the recent episode, Grace joined her mother at the Tipsy Spoon in Washington, D.C., to discuss what Gizelle said was her “amazing” first year away. Over ice cream, Gizelle told Grace she felt they’d “gotten closer” since she moved away, and Grace agreed.

When the conversation shifted to what school may be like for Angel and Adore, Grace said she thought Adore would “have a breakdown” within the first couple weeks of admission because “she relies on Angel” for everything.

The twins are going their separate ways for college, with Adore studying International Relations at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia (Gizelle’s alma mater), and Angel majoring in Health Science at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. Both teens said they wanted to explore individuality and challenge themselves for the next phase of their lives.

But it also marks the next phase in Gizelle’s life as a first-time empty nester.

“My dad passed away, and now these girls are leaving me,” Gizelle said in her confessional. “If I could just go back and put these girls back in a bassinet right now, I would, so that it wouldn’t be back-to-back, just everyone leaving my life at one time.”

With all three children on their way out, Gizelle had some ideas for what she may do to occupy her time.

“So, the other day, you mentioned when I’m going to be home alone by myself,” Gizelle began, telling Grace that a cooking class “might be good.”

Grace joked, “You need it,” and though Gizelle insisted her cooking was “great,” both settled that the mother of three was one heck of a baker.

Grace’s college experiences

Grace Bryant is currently a sophomore at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, focusing on Public Relations, as previously reported. On an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Gizelle said Grace was “thriving.”

The oldest sister told The Daily Dish in September that she most loved the community and the “so many opportunities” offered at the school. It was also important that she attend an H.B.C.U. (Historically Black Colleges and Universities), just like her mother and now, her younger sisters, too.

“I did my research on historical Black colleges, and once I had my tour, I knew it was the place for me,” said Grace. “I was drawn to the culture here within the university, as well as the warm weather.”

She also had some sound advice for the twins at the start of the school year.

"I told my sisters to always trust themselves and know their worth," Grace told The Daily Dish. "I personally have seen people get lost in themselves and forget why they went to college in the first place. I want them to enjoy their experience and embrace who they are."
