Erika Jayne Opens Up About Raising Son Tommy with Her First Husband: "To This Day..."
RHOBH's Erika Jayne also shared how her son's doing today and where she currently stands with her first husband.
Long before she was betting it all on blonde or picking up a diamond on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Erika Jayne was a single mom to her son, Tommy Zizzo.
The "XXPEN$IVE" singer shares Tommy with her first husband, Thomas Zizzo (they split up in 1996 after about five years of marriage). During an appearance on the August 23 episode of the Two Ts in a Pod podcast, Erika shared some insight into how she and her ex co-parented their son together when he was growing up.
Podcast host Teddi Mellencamp started out by asking Erika if her ex-husband had done any "parental alienation" with Tommy Zizzo when her son was growing up. Erika said no.
"My first husband I, actually, had a great relationship — probably a better relationship divorced than married, and I'm very grateful [that] he never did anything like that, and we're still friends to this day," she said on the podcast.
When asked how exes can achieve a strong co-parenting relationship, Erika responded, "I think that two people have to come and put the sh-t [aside]."
Who is Erika Jayne's son, Tommy Zizzo?
Though Erika has been a cast member on RHOBH since Season 6, her son has never appeared on the show.
Erika has revealed a few details about her only child over the years, like how he works in law enforcement in Los Angeles, and how she was a strict parent when he was growing up.
"There wasn’t a lot of free[dom]," she told The Daily Dish several years ago. "I believe in rules and I believe in, you know, constantly having those followed."
While chatting exclusively with The Daily Dish in March 2024, Erika shared how her son is doing today.
She shared that Tommy Zizzo is doing "great."
"He's really good," she reiterated.
Erika added that while Tommy may be an adult now, she doesn't foresee him becoming a parent himself any time soon.
"We've never discussed that," she told The Daily Dish about whether Tommy Zizzo has expressed an interest in settling down. "I don't think that's part of his journey."
Who is Erika Jayne's first husband?
Erika revealed a little known fact about her first husband, Thomas Zizzo, at BravoCon 2023 while reflecting on how she got her start in the entertainment industry.
"I always made dance music. My first husband was a DJ [and] we met at the club," Erika explained. "I grew up in a dance studio, I grew up in musical theater, and I made the music that I wanted to make that I wanted to dance to, and it just so happened that it resonated with the LGBTQ community. And I'm very grateful for that and that's always where I stay because that's what I like to do."
