Did Marital Problems Lead to Wendy Williams' On-Air Collapse?
The talk show host's staff is reportedly "extremely concerned."
In a now-infamous moment of live television, Wendy Williams had a frightening episode on Tuesday, October 31. Wearing a Statue of Liberty costume to embrace the Halloween spirit, Williams fainted in front of cameras during a live taping of her talk show.
The host was quick to chock the incident up to overheating due to menopause and also explained that she'd been low on electrolytes. But rumors are swirling that other factors are to blame.
A staffer from The Wendy Williams Show told Entertainment Tonight that marital strife could be the cause of the scary episode. According to the staffer, Williams' husband Kevin Hunter has allegedly been involved in an affair with his massage therapist for years. And the rumors surrounding Williams' marriage might have taken their toll.
"People are extremely concerned about it and worried she is going to completely lose it because this is so catastrophic for her," a source told ET. "Staff on the show are particularly concerned about the stress of it on her. To say she’s not handling the stress well is an understatement."
At least in front of cameras, though, Williams is keeping her chin up. She addressed the scuttlebutt in September, and said that her marriage was still strong and healthy. "I stand by my guy," Williams said then. "Don't believe the hype, and if there was hype, believe me you, I would let you know."
