Cynthia Bailey: Doing TV Makes 'Marriage Harder'
The RHOA star opens up about her relationship with Peter Thomas—and ex-BFF NeNe.
It's been four years since Cynthia Bailey tied the knot with Peter Thomas—right in front of the cameras on a special episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta. But the glitz and glam of their celebrity hasn't always made things easy for the couple.
"[Doing TV] makes it harder," Cynthia revealed during her appearance on Access Hollywood Live Friday. "Marriage is not easy. But being on a reality show together—he's part of the show as well—it definitely has its challenges. But we talk about it. We have a lot of ups-and-downs on the show."
Cynthia went on to explain that letting the cameras document their private lives has had one upside: it's helped other Americans and their marriages. "The show is primarily about women," she says. "A lot of men watch the show because their wives watch the show. And they like it when the guys get to have their two cents."
This season, Cynthia will become a focus for another reason: her fallout with NeNe Leakes. And the model and mother says she's not going to lie down and take it from her ex-BFF.
"NeNe is a veteran of the show," Cynthia explains. "Without her, we wouldn't be on the show. I will always respect that. But the show has evolved. We have new blood on the show this season. It's more women than it was before. The game has changed."
That's not to say she doesn't miss her pal. "It breaks my heart to see that," she says. "We were closer than close for years. She was my bestie from when I first came onto the show. I'm not gonna say [she's too big for her britches] but the dynamics have changed."
