The Real Housewives of Atlanta mom kicked off the new year with an honest message about her health journey and very relatable struggles with self-image. Cynthia posted a January 1 Instagram in which she detailed the factors that led to her weight gain and how she planned to lose the extra pounds in 2025.

“My weight was something I never worried about. As a model for most of my adult life, staying fit came naturally — or at least it felt that way,” she said in a video. “However, turning 50 brought some unexpected changes. Menopause hit hard. My lifestyle became more unpredictable with constant work travel. And, let’s be honest, that happy weight you gain in a new relationship? Well, that didn’t help either. Suddenly, what felt like overnight, I didn’t feel like I looked like myself anymore.”

Cynthia admits she deletes comments about her weight

Cynthia revealed she currently weighs 205 pounds and wants to lose 50 through WeightWatchers, a points-based nutrition program that assists in weight loss. The Alabama native said she tried “to conceal [her] weight” with various modeling “tricks,” like using flattering poses in photos, wearing all black, and tying a jacket around her waist. But as time went on, Cynthia determined those methods were no longer effective, as social media users began to point out her physical changes.

“I have a confession to make: I’ve been deleting comments about my weight,” she explained in the video caption. “The truth is, I’ve put on more pounds than I care to admit, and I’m finally ready to do something about it.”

Cynthia breaks down her ultimate health and fitness goals

Cynthia explained she wasn’t interested in being “skinny,” nor was she “chasing [her] old model weight.” She was, instead, focused on “getting back to a place” where she felt “strong, healthy, and confident.”

The entrepreneur told her fans she tried losing weight on her own but struggled to find a sustainable solution. So, what did she do? She started working with Weight Watchers to develop a nutrition plan suitable for her busy lifestyle. Cynthia said she wanted a diet program that kept her consistent while allowing her to enjoy her favorite foods. She also promised to share her health journey on social media and called on her fans to hold her “accountable.”

“It’s about being able to fit into my clothes again, feeling good in my body, and regaining control,” she said in the video. “This journey isn’t just about looking better, it’s about feeling like myself again. Here’s to taking control and living a healthy lifestyle. Let’s do this!”

Several days into the new year, Cynthia returned to Instagram to share footage of her first 2025 workout session. The January 3 Stories showed the mother of one walking on the treadmill, swinging power ropes, and throwing a medicine ball.

"We are back!! Let’s go 2025!!! The journey begins!" she captioned an Instagram. "Great day 1 of the year workout with my trainer/hypewoman [Tee Caldwell of Lit Fit Nutrition] & the struggle was real."
