Craig Conover Reveals the "Easter Egg" at His Sewing Down South Store (VIDEO EXCLUSIVE)
The Southern Charm cast member just gave a full tour of his flagship pillow store in Charleston.
Craig Conover once asked, "What's wrong with my sewing?" But, the Southern Charm cast member has proven that there is nothing wrong with his one-time hobby turned successful business since he started Sewing Down South in 2018 and later opened his flagship store in Charleston in 2021.
In a new video tour of the Sewing Down South Charleston store, Craig showed off to BravoTV.com just how much his business has grown while also paying tribute to his humble beginnings. While the store is filled with so many fun items that Southern Charm fans would love (more on that down below), it's also home to some sentimental items and "easter eggs," like one of Craig's first pillows that he ever sewed.
In the video tour, Craig showed off the adorable, light pink pillow on the shelving unit directly behind the cash register area. "The Penelope pillow is one of the first pillows I ever made," he explained.
The "tooth fairy pillow" has the name Penelope stitched on it, has an adorable tooth appliqué on it, and a pocket for children to place their missing teeth. "So the tooth goes in here and the tooth fairy replaces it with money," he explained.
Although this pillow means so much to Craig, it is a hot item at Sewing Down South. "We have had the most insane offers for this pillow," he revealed.
But, it isn't for sale and it isn't an item that the average person can touch. "Actually, I'm the only one that touches this," he explained.
Who is the Penelope from Craig's pillow?
Even though one of Craig's first pillows was intended for a kid, that kid does not exist. Prior to entering in a relationship with his current girlfriend, Paige DeSorbo, Craig had been in a relationship with Southern Charm alum, Naomie Olindo.
The former couple had dated for three years before officially splitting in 2018. But, prior to that, they had picked out the names of their future children. Craig told The Daily Dish all about these future kids in an April 2016 interview, revealing that they would be named: "Seven, Exit, Dash, and Penelope."
Other features in Craig Conover's Sewing Down South Charleston store
The Penelope pillow isn't the only fun thing about the Sewing Down South shop. In the tour, as seen in the exclusive video above, Craig showed off the massive wall of pillows, store-branded merchandise, and yarn wall perfect for photo opportunities.
"This is one of the proudest things that I've ever done in my life and to share this with everyone that has been watching along for almost 12 years now, is so much fun," he explained in the video.
It's safe to say that business has been successful for Craig. He also gave a behind-the-scenes look at the back-stock area of the store and revealed that merchandise is pretty thin there. "The foot traffic here has been incredible, Charleston continues to grow," he explained.
