Jennifer Tilly Says "Insane" Decision to Join Bravo's RHOBH Was "Scarier Than Chucky"
The Oscar-nominated actress said she has "good reflexes," just in case drinks start flying between the Housewives.
Horror and Housewives fans can rejoice now that the marvelous Jennifer Tilly has staked her claim on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as a Friend of the series.
The leading lady of Chucky — which recently aired its third season and is available to watch on SYFY, USA Network, and Peacock — got into the nitty gritty about her time on the Housewives series when speaking with former co-star Gina Gershon. The pair united for the It Happened in Hollywood podcast to discuss their successful 1996 film Bound — which helped raise the bar for LGBTQ+ filmmaking — before Gershon touched on news that Jennifer was joining RHOBH.
“Oh, my God, it’s insane,” Jennifer said in the July 2, 2024, podcast episode. “It’s, like, scarier than Chucky, I’ll tell you that.”
Jennifer has famously and fabulously starred in the Child’s Play horror franchise since 1998’s Bride of Chucky, the fourth of several horror films starring “Chucky,” a doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer. Playing his long-time girlfriend and partner in crime Tiffany Valentine, Jennifer reprised the role in Seed of Chucky (2004), Curse of Chucky (2013), and Cult of Chucky (2017), and has since carried the character over into SYFY and USA's Chucky.
The Bravoverse, however, was surprised to occasionally spot the Chucky series star between Seasons 10 and 13 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, before learning she was a close friend with longtime Housewife Sutton Stracke.

Jennifer was confirmed as a Friend of the series in Bravo’s Season 14 lineup announcement on May 22, 2024.
Jennifer Tilly on joining RHOBH
Jennifer clarified on It Happened in Hollywood that she wasn’t a diamond holder just yet.
“I’m not a Housewife; I’m a friend, though, which is a lot easier,” Jennifer told Gershon. “You just dip in and out. You try to avoid flying shrapnel. And if drinks are thrown, I have good reflexes.”
Jennifer said she was approached to join the franchise as an official Housewife, but was “too scared” to accept the invitation (which, given her years as the murderous Tiffany Valentine, surprises even the most devoted of her fans).
Jennifer’s decision to join the Bravo series as a Friend, however, may have Gina Gershon tuning in.
“You’re going to be a genius on that,” Gershon told Jennifer. “You’ll take over that whole set, Jen, I have no doubt. I’d actually even watch it with you on it.”
About Jennifer Tilly and Sutton Stracke’s friendship
Jennifer will join Sutton and fellow mainstays Kyle Richards, Dorit Kemsley, Erika Jayne, Garcelle Beauvais, and newcomer Bozoma Saint John in the upcoming season of RHOBH. Kyle’s sister, the legendary Kathy Hilton, will also return as a Friend of the series.
Sutton previously detailed her and Jennifer’s hilarious friendship in the RHOBH Season 13 Premiere.
“Jennifer Tilly is one of my best friends for over 10 years,” Sutton said. “We travel so well together. We love to go to fashion shows all over the world. I did put one of her salted caramels in my ear on an Air France flight. I thought it was the earplugs, and they were stuck in my ears, and we couldn’t get it out. And then she said, ‘Was that the salted caramel I gave you?’ I said, ‘Yes, it was.’ I don’t know, we’re so stupid together.”
In a 2022 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Jennifer said she was “very protective of little Miss Sutton.”
As seen on Instagram, Jennifer is also close with Kathy Hilton.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14 premiere date has yet to be announced, though audiences can catch up on Bravo and Peacock.
Fans can head to SYFY, USA Network, and Peacock to see more of Jennifer Tilly in the first three seasons of Chucky.
