China Chow Unlocks her 'Work of Art' Look
The host explains her sartorial masterpieces.
Work of Art will crown its next great artist tonight, but we already know the show's big winner... China Chow. The host has been stunning participants and viewers alike with her thematic, striking couture. And like Laverne and Shirley, the pixie-ish provocateur is doing it her way. There is nothing she won't try -- never heard the word "impossible."
And The New York Times has taken note, spotlighting China's look in its Style section this week. China tells Times that during the first season of Work of Art, she told its producers she wouldn't work with the stylist they'd assigned to her. Why? The Bravoleb explains, "[The stylist] had no showroom access, so I got Bravo to let me work with someone I knew instead. This season I came up with many of my outfits myself."
China takes each week's theme seriously and reflects it in her sartorial choices, like the white dress the artists could spray paint in honor of the street art challenge, and the newspaper challenge, which found China sporting a ruff of newsprint. "It's a visual show, so why not wear interesting clothes?" she tells the Times. "A friend told me I don't dress for men," she adds. "I guess that's true."
