Candiace Dillard Bassett Shares a Glimpse at Her Career Before RHOP
The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member revealed that she originally worked in a totally different industry than she does now.
Candiace Bassett Dillard recently announced that she’s heading back to school to pursue her Masters of Business Administration at the School of Business at Howard University this fall. While The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member has big plans for the future, there’s no denying that she’s had a pretty awesome career for quite some time. Candiace recently shared a look at what her professional life looked like before her RHOP days, and it’s equal parts glamorous and impressive.
In an August 8 Instagram post, Candiace revealed that she once worked in the journalism industry. Following the announcement that FOX 5 media personality Allison Seymour would be leaving the network after 21 years, Candiace shared a throwback post (in which she’s rocking her Miss United States sash and crown) to thank Seymour for inspiring her.
“When I started my winter 2010 internship at @fox5dc I was so excited to get to work alongside the journalists that I admired and watched every day on my local news,” Candiace captioned the post. “@Allisonseymour66 you were then and still are the brightest light in a room. You certainly don’t remember but I got a chance to help work your show in the control room many days and I admired not only your professionalism, but how warm you were. You made me feel like I mattered — even as a lowly intern and any time I saw you in the studio (even on hectic days) you were always poised.”
Candiace then elaborated on her career path, writing, “My path took my somewhat away from journalism, but I am still grateful of the example you set for me and all the young Black Women in newsrooms. You are a class act. A shining example of poise and grace and the newsroom will be a lesser place without you in it and on our screens every day. Thank you for being who you are and congrats on leaving on top! You’re an OG.”
