Bravo's Project Runway Alum Chris March Has Passed Away
The designer appeared in Season 4 of Project Runway and Mad Fashion.
Bravo’s Project Runway alum Chris March has passed away two years after suffering from a "debilitating accident" in June 2017, The Daily Dish has confirmed. He was 56.
“We are deeply saddened by the news of Chris March’s passing. He was a favorite among Bravo fans and the fashion community," a Bravo spokesperson said in a statement. "Our condolences go out to his family and friends. He will truly be missed.”
Andy Cohen paid tribute to Chris on Instagram on September 6 with a photo from one of Watch What Happens Live's first Halloween specials for which the designer created the costumes. "This is how I’m going to remember Chris March," Andy wrote. "Chris was a finalist on Season 4 of Project Runway. He designed for everyone from Beyoncé, Gaga, Madonna, Meryl, Prince and many legendary downtown drag queens (And Sonja Morgan!). He had a big booming laugh; he was a joy and delight. #RIP."
Earlier this year, Chris addressed how difficult his road to recovery had been following a fall in his home nearly two years ago that left him in a coma and, later on, with residual health issues. In March, he addressed those struggles but noted that “I try to add humor, glamour, and a little glitter to my world” in the face of his adversity.
The California native first appeared on Season 4 of Project Runway, in addition to his own Bravo series, Mad Fashion, later on that put his over-the-top and avant garde creations — and lovable persona — at the forefront. He also worked with The Real Housewives of New York City fashionista, Sonja Morgan, in the past.
After the fashion designer went public with his health struggles, Sonja remembered working with him in an interview with The Daily Dish in April 2018, recalling how much she enjoyed having him in her life and the designs he created for her.
"And it's his personality and love for life and love for fashion — and fashion, as fleeting as it is at the moment, that's the moment that gets you out of bed. And I remember how he was there for me and helped me with my headdresses,” she said.
Some of the notable stars he's worked with in the past include Madonna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Meryl Streep, including her 2010 Oscars dress. He even teamed up with Target on a costume and accessories line.
