Get Ready for Tex-Mex Tuesdays: New Docuseries Texicanas Is Coming to Bravo
The new show follows six Latina friends as they navigate love, family, and drama in San Antonio, Texas.
If you can't get enough Texas on your TV, we have good news for you: A new docuseries Texicanas is coming to Bravo! In Texicanas, we're headed to San Antonio, a city rich in Mexican culture that boasts one of the largest Latino populations in the United States. The show follows six San Antonio ladies as they navigate love, family, and, of course, drama, all while maintaining their connection to Mexican culture and traditions.
Here's who you can expect to meet on Texicanas: Penny Ayarzagoitia, who was born in the U.S. but spent her youth in Mexico. She's built a successful real estate career in San Antonio with husband Raul and together, they have two sons.
Then there's Mayra Farret, who was born in Mexico and moved to San Antonio with her husband, Fernando, nine years ago and is now a U.S. citizen. Although she once worked a high-powered finance job, she didn't have a green card when she immigrated, so she shifted her focus from her career to raising her two sons. Mayra is described as a perfectionist and a people-pleaser, which often causes tension in her friend group.
Lorena Martinez was born in a Texas border town but raised in Reynosa, Mexico, and married her husband, Ignacio, at the age of 19. Described as a social butterfly, Lorena has a traditional "machista" marriage, in which her husband runs a construction company while she runs her family.
Anayancy Nolasco was born in Mexico and is the only friend in her group who isn't a U.S. citizen. She moved to San Antonio for college and stayed in the U.S. after having her daughter Ellie. Anayancy is a single mom and self-described "daddy's girl," and she enjoys going back to Mexico often to be spoiled by her father.
Originally from Brownsville, Texas, Karla Ramirez and husband Manoli Zacharias have been living in San Antonio for the past 13 years. In addition to being parents to two sons, Karla and Manoli own several businesses together, including upscale nightclub Hotel Discotheque.
Luz Ortiz has lived in San Antonio for 17 years but grew up in a conservative environment in Sonora, Mexico. Luz married at age 23 and had three children, but got divorced six years ago, realizing she didn't want to conform to her husband's traditional expectations. She is now a real estate agent and owns and operates a successful boxing gym.
Watch these six San Antonio ladies on Texicanas, premiering Tuesday, May 7, at 10/9c. Catch a preview of the season above.
