Bravo Airing Stand Up to Cancer Special This Week
Hollywood's leading stars coming out for the year's biggest TV event—all the details!
Gwyneth, Reese, Halle: three of Hollywood's biggest stars are teaming up again for a good cause—and Bravo's helping out, too!
Bravo will be airing the annual Stand Up to Cancer fundraising telecast this Friday, September 5 at 8p ET/PT and 7p CT. The one-hour special will also be streamed live on Hulu and Yahoo.
And some of your favorite celebrities are coming out to raise money for the charity, which has brought together more than 750 of the best and brightest research scientists from 112 institutions in six countries to work together to save lives affected by cancer.
So who will be appearing? In addition to Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, and Halle Berry, Pierce Brosnan, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Jon Hamm, Kiefer Sutherland, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, Mark Harmon, Rob Lowe are just a few of the bold-faced names set to join the telecast. Also on the lineup: Dane Cook, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and others still to be announced.
The event will also feature special musical performances by the Who, Jennifer Hudson, Lupe Fiasco and Common, Ariana Grande, and Dave Matthews. And Katie Couric will be reaching out to supporters from the On-Stage Digital Lounge, which she's hosting. The Lounge will allow celebrities to reach out to viewers via phone, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms.
"Cancer affects us all," Paltrow, who lost her father, Bruce Paltrow, to oral cancer in 2002, says in a statement, “and each and every person can help the scientists who are working 24/7 to save more lives. We want to get that message out in as many ways as possible, so we’re excited to use social media to reach supporters from all over who are helping to grow the Stand Up To Cancer movement, and hopefully, get even more people to stand up with us.”
