Bethenny Takes Aim at 'Teen Mom'

We've watched Bethenny Frankel take on the challenges of motherhood with varying degrees of difficulty. But as difficult as they can be for her, the Bethenny Ever After star knows those struggles are even greater for the growing number of teen moms in this country.

"A teenage girl is not responsible enough to have a baby emotionally, financially, and it's not giving yourself the best shot at life, nor your baby," Bethenny told OK! Magazine at The Candie's Foundation's 10th Anniversary of the Event To Prevent in New York. In fact, baby Bryn's mama remembers what it was like to be a hormonal teenage mess and credits good fortune that she wasn't a teen mom herself. "It certainly wasn't a condom," the 40-year-old liquor mogul recalled with her signature bluntness. "It was probably luck."

So what can be done to reverse this alarming trend in 2011? B suggests bringing more awareness to the issue, and not through reality TV. "I think television is glamorizing it now, which is a disservice... I haven't watched Teen Mom, but I can only imagine it glamorizes something that is not glamorous because the girls are on a lot of magazines," Bethenny stated. "It makes people want to be like them, which is a terrible thing."
