We Just Found Out Something Even More Shocking About That Below Deck Mediterranean Wine Glass Moment
Conrad Empson shares what he really thinks of João Franco and Hannah Ferrier's drama.
By this point in Season 3 of Below Deck Mediterranean, we've come to expect that Hannah Ferrier and João Franco just aren't going to get along. But we never saw this explosive moment coming.
As Hannah recounted to Brooke Laughton a tense moment while raising a glass with João during one crew dinner, across the table, the deckhand seemed to be holding his wine glass so tight that it shattered in his hand. The unexpected moment completely shocked Hannah and Brooke.
Although João apologized during the episode for what seemed to be an accidental party foul, bosun Conrad Empson had a different take on the buzzy moment when he appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Tuesday night. "He was listening to [Hannah and Brooke's conversation]," Conrad said when one fan asked if he thought João broke the glass on purpose (clip above). "If you watch him slowly, he was watching it, ready to snap it."
However, João said on Twitter that the glass breaking while Hannah and Brooke were talking was a "complete coincidence." "I broke the glass by accident and honestly didn’t hear a word Hannah was saying," he said.
Of course, Hannah and João's seemingly never-ending drama has put Conrad in an interesting position this season of Below Deck Med. The bosun is technically João's boss, but he's also been romancing Hannah. "In this situation between João and Hannah, it was so difficult for me because I am João's boss. He was having the arguments with Hannah outside of work, so I really shouldn't be stepping in. But at the same time, I should be stepping in because me and Hannah are an item as such, and it's for me to say so. But it's also very tricky trying to separate the pair of them," Conrad explained during a recent interview with The Daily Dish. "I don't know, I felt like I was always treading on thin ice with that one."
But in reflecting back on this season of Below Deck Med, Conrad said that he doesn't think there was really anything he could have done to assuage the conflict between Hannah and João. "They were both massive personalities, and João wanted to try and better Hannah every time. And they were both gonna clash from the start," Conrad shared. "And yet, it never really gets any better, does it?"
We'll see if things get any better between Hannah and João as this season of Below Deck Med sails on. It looks like things will heat up between João and Brooke, at least, in an all-new episode of Below Deck Med Tuesday, July 10 at 9/8c. Sneak a peek, below.
