Fraser Sounds Off on Camille’s Below Deck Firing: “It Needed to Be Done”
The chief stew also shared why he was “so glad” that Captain Sandy got involved.
After failing to impress either of her bosses (Fraser Olender and Ross Mcharg) with her work ethic, and getting into a loud disagreement with second stew Alissa Humber in front of the charter guests, Below Deck deck/stew Camille Lamb’s job on St. David was on thin ice.
In the closing minutes of the January 16 episode, chief stew Fraser met with Captain Sandy Yawn to tell her that, though he “adore[d]” Camille as a person, she was “not doing the job” properly. Captain Sandy made the command decision to fire Camille.
“This is not easy for me,” the captain told Camille when the two met in the bridge. “I’m letting you go this morning.” Though Camille looked surprised to get the boot, Fraser explained that the firing had been a long time coming when he appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen after the episode aired.
“It needed to be done,” Fraser said when host Andy Cohen asked if he was “shocked” that Captain Sandy went through with the firing. “I’m so glad there was someone to help me do it, and I needed that support.”
Later in the WWHL episode, a fan asked Fraser if he could list three things Camille was “good at with her job” during the charter season.
“She looked great,” he responded, before signaling that he wasn't going to add any other comments. “Yeah.”
In addition to throwing some shade at the now-fired deck/stew, Fraser also revealed what “hurt” him the most about the situation and shared who he thought Camille was “sucking up” to before she was let go. Find out all of that (and more!) by pressing play on the video above.
