Angie K. Defends Her Comment About Lisa's Parenting — and Lisa Hits Back (EXCLUSIVE)
Angie Katsanevas and Lisa Barlow are shedding new light on their drama on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
Drama has started to plague longtime friends Lisa Barlow and Angie Katsanevas on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 5, and a lot of it has to do with comments made about each others' kids — but there's more to it than that, as both ladies revealed on the Oct. 23 episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City After Show.
Angie, more specifically, started out by making a clarification: "Number one, I never called Lisa a bad mom."
"And number two, Lisa crossed the line with me by bringing up my daughter," she added, referring to a dinner party where Lisa accused Angie of using her daughter, Elektra, as an excuse to stop talking to her during their once-regular phone calls. "I would be on the phone with Lisa from the minute I woke up — and this is real — like, probably 100 times during the day ... from morning to midday to afternoon to dinner to before bed, and sometimes 'til 2 in the morning."
In short, Angie was extremely upset when she made the comment about Lisa's son, Henry (specifically, that Lisa lets him "sit and game 'til 2 in the morning").
"I think that's where it really hurt; I gave Lisa so much of my time and I did pull away from my family to do it," Angie said on the After Show. "And so then, for it not to be enough, and for Lisa to say, 'You use your daughter as an excuse,' we should never bring each other's kids up. She's little. She's not older. I'm not a liar, and if I've gotta go it's because I'm a family woman."
Lisa Barlow sheds new light on Angie's comment about Henry
In spite of Angie's insistence that she didn't call Lisa a "bad mom," Lisa noted that the remark was hurtful regardless. As she put it, "I mean, it's such an insult to me and Henry that Angie told Heather [Gay] that I'm basically a bad mom because my kids are up playing video games 'til [2] in the morning, which would never happen."
From there, she clarified why Angie's daughter came up in the first place.
Why did Lisa Barlow bring up Angie's daughter, Elektra?
As Lisa explained on the RHOSLC After Show, she made the remark as "a reaction to [Angie] being like, 'You don't talk to me anymore.'"
"I'm like, I'm busy, you're busy, and I don't feel safe telling you things because you go and repeat them all to Whitney [Rose], so, I brought up what she does. She has told me she does it. You can call John [Barlow] right now, and he will be like, 'I was in the car, I heard it multiple times.' She'll say, 'When I want to get off the phone with people, I'll say Elektra is calling.' And that's what she started to do to me. She would call me, and then be like, 'Elektra is calling.' I'm like, it's 1 o'clock on a Thursday."
Angie K. and Lisa clarify why they used to talk on the phone so often
Since the topic of their once-regular phone calls played such a big role in the drama, Lisa and Angie both shed new light on why they used to speak so regularly. The latter was specifically asked by Mary Cosby on the RHOSLC After Show what she and Lisa would talk about, and Angie replied, "The same goddamn thing over and over and over again."
Lisa sees things differently, though. "I was on the phone with you because you needed affirmations and wanted to talk about the same thing over and over," she argued on the After Show. "And I listened to you, I gave you great advice, I was a great friend to you, and now you're using that against me because now you're friends with Whitney."
