Andy Cohen Sheds New Light on the Vanderpump Rules Cast Shakeup: "Right Thing to Do"
WWHL host Andy Cohen revealed why he's "so impressed" with the Vanderpump Rules Season 11 cast.
Andy Cohen is sharing his take on the news that the Vanderpump Rules cast will be new for Season 12.
ICYMI, on November 26, it was announced that VPR would return with Lisa Vanderpump and a new set of SURvers.
Since then, cast members Ariana Madix, James Kennedy, Katie Maloney, Lala Kent, Scheana Shay, Tom Sandoval, and Tom Schwartz have all shared their initial (and emotional) reactions to the news. Now, Andy is sharing why he's looking forward to the next season.
"This is the absolute right thing to do," he said during a recent episode of his Sirius XM series, Andy Cohen Live. "I am so impressed with how production kept the show going over the last, I'm gonna say four years, when slowly but surely none of them were working at SUR."
As Andy said, the "entire point of the show" was to follow the SURvers and bartenders working at Lisa's popular West Hollywood restaurant. "It wound up that James Kennedy was the only one with any kind of footprint at SUR, because he was DJ-ing there occasionally and now he's gone on and he's got a residency in Vegas and he's having great success and they're all having good success outside of SUR," the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host continued.
Plus, the dad of two said, Season 11 concluded in a way that felt final. "If you look at the last episode of last season, it really did, watch the last ten minutes or five minutes, it felt like an absolute series finale," he continued. "So, congratulations."
Though fans are still invested in the cast members' lives, Andy said that "sometimes for a show, it's the end of the road, or it's time to curve or swerve or pivot."
"I'm so impressed with the gang from Vanderpump Rules. The production team and the folks on the show. Specifically, the folks on the show who always remained very true to themselves, like it or hate it or like them or hate them," he concluded. "They were always very much themselves and that's what made that show so entertaining and surprising season after season."
Andy Cohen shares a throwback photo after Vanderpump Rules news
Andy's comments on Andy Cohen Live weren't the first time he's reflected on the Vanderpump Rules cast shakeup.
On the day that the news first broke, Andy took to his Instagram Stories to share a series of throwback photos from the first season.
"[Pump Rules] nostalgia-romp-photo-dump," he wrote alongside a photo of Lisa and her late dog, Giggy, spending time in the WWHL Clubhouse.
He also posted images from when Tom Sandoval, Scheana Shay, and show alums Jax Taylor and Stassi Schroeder made their Clubhouse debuts.
He shared a shirtless picture of Tom Sandoval and Jax wearing goggles.
"ALWAYS great sports on WWHL!" Andy wrote alongside the picture.
Andy posted photos from the first Vanderpump Rules reunion as well as from the Season 4 season-ending sit-down (which was Lala's first reunion).
