Andy Cohen and Mom Grace 'Parade' Cover for Mother's Day
A candid interview with the Watch What Happens Live host.
As evidenced by anyone who caught Watch What Happens Live this week, Andy Cohen and his mom Evelyn have an incredible mother-son relationship going on. She's cool enough to laugh at his pottymouth jokes, and he vaules her opinion above everyone elses. It's that love that landed them on the cover of Parade for Mother's Day this year.
With his new book Most Talkative: Stories From the Front Lines of Pop Culture hitting bookshelves this week, Andy has still been holding down the fort on WWHL despite his press whirlwind, and his mother is often his barometer for how that show goes. "She texts me a review of my show every night ... She'll say, 'Fantastic.' 'You seem drunk.' 'Funny one,'" the Bravo exec shares with Parade.
Evelyn, who has been filling in as a bartender on WWHL this week, says: "I feel a need before I go to bed to text him."
In the adorable mother-son interview, mom says that "Andy was a magnetic personality from the time he was a little boy ... He brings this energy with him and makes people happy." However, there were some tough times between them growing up, especially around the time when Cohen announced to his parents that he was gay.
"I cried for six months," she admits, but when a neighbor convinced her that Andy was still the son she knows and loves, she ditched the tears in favor of charity, helping to establish a St. Louis-based interfaith organization to help HIV/AIDS victims. It's this loyalty "that really speaks volumes as to who she is ... I love her for it," Andy says.
Speaking of love, Andy admits that he's got pretty much everything in life right now ... except a boyfriend. "I'm a very happy person and it is the final, final piece of the puzzle. I'm looking for that shout-it-out-from-the-mountaintops, fall-in-love person."
