Here's Everything You Didn't See During Andy Cohen's 50th Birthday Special
What you saw on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen was only part of the party.
Oh, what a night!
Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen pulled out all the stops for the host's 50th birthday celebration in a very special episode on Sunday night. Not only did Andy Cohen's famous friend John Mayer surprise him as the host for the night, putting Andy in the hot seat as a guest, but the special also included more birthday fun from the likes of Dolly Parton, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos, and Anderson Cooper. Along the way, we learned more about the WWHL host than we ever could have imagined, and we were treated to a performance of one of Andy's favorite Diana Ross songs by John.
But believe it or not, you didn't get to see all of the awesomeness during the episode. The Daily Dish was in the audience during the filming of Andy's 50th birthday special, and we got to witness some behind-the-scenes fun that made the occasion truly a night to remember.
The Audience Started the Celebration Early
What better way to ring in Andy's big 5-0 than snacking on mimosas and mini-cupcakes? It didn't hurt that music by Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd, Erika Jayne, and even the Vanderpump Rules theme song was played to get everyone pumped up for the big show.
The Decorations Were Andy-tastic
In fact, the whole Bravo Clubhouse was decked out in decorations for Andy's birthday.
The bar, which featured the WWHL host's besties, was adorned with some decorations that said "Happy Birthday" and others that had Andy's face on them.
Andy Entered the Building Blindfolded
Andy looked so thrilled by John's birthday surprise.
The WWHL staff didn't want to take any chances of ruining the surprise for Andy.
The WWHL host said he was "nervous" as he awaited his birthday surprises.
One Surprise Came Dangerously Close to Being Spoiled
John performed a special song for Andy's birthday.
A guitar for John's surprise performance was slyly given to Andy's friend Liza behind the bar. When Andy approached his BFFs to take a photo at the bar during one commercial break, the guitar was quickly taken away, then handed back to Liza to hide again when Andy sat back down.
A Very Special Guest Was in the Audience
John, Andy's BFFs, and Bridget Everett weren't the only special guests at the 50th birthday celebration. Andy's trainer Stanislav Kravchenko was also in the audience.
Andy's Birthday Cake Had a Very Momentous Decoration
In case you didn't catch it at the end of the special, the birthday cake featured a throwback photo of 13-year-old Andy at his bar mitzvah.
One of the Guests Made
John wiped away glitter that had gotten on Andy after he was motorboated by Bridget.
A Host Is Born
John was a natural at hosting WWHL.
John seemed very confident about his WWHL hosting skills by the end of the episode. "I'm learning all the terminology," he said after rattling off some production terms.
