Alex McCord Gives a Look at Her Post-RHONY Career Like We've Never Seen Before
The Real Housewives of New York City alum has a very different life outside of the spotlight.
Alex McCord's life since The Real Housewives of New York City has been, uh, different. Following her move to husband Simon van Kempen's home country of Australia back in late 2014, Alex decided to head back to school to get a degree in psychology.
The initial revelation of Alex's career move caused a stir on the internet back in 2017, but Alex has been plenty hard at work on getting her degree since then. The RHONY alum just gave fans a glimpse at how her studies are going in a recent post on Instagram, and let's just say, to paraphrase Dorinda Medley, it's going "not well, bitch."
That's because Alex's new houseguest, the family's cat William, has been a bit of an adorable distraction from her work. As you can see in the above photo, William felt like stretching out on Alex's notebook and computer while she was trying to run some statistical models one day. You know, as cats do.
It sounds like this is just how William rolls since he joined the McCord-van Kempen family a few weeks ago. "This is William, who recently moved in and now owns our house," Alex captioned the first photo of William on Instagram in August.
Alex, who we previously saw work in merchandising and design as well as modeling during her time on RHONY in Seasons 1 through 3, told The Daily Dish in 2017 that she had always been interested in having a career in the sciences since she was a student at Northwestern University. Alex ultimately decided to pursue a degree in theater in college, but she saw her move to Australia five years ago as "a time of midlife reinvention."
"I have always lived my life pushing myself out of my bubble. I think that if you stay in your comfort zone, you're not growing. If you're not moving, you're not growing. And so, kind of when I've been offered opportunities in my life or faced with decisions, I tend to go for the scariest one, because I think that that's probably what will help me grow," she told The Daily Dish. "In a way, that's how we ended up on Housewives. And it's just been a long process to psychology and what makes people tick because I did try to figure that out a lot while I was doing RHONY."
Watch Alex open up more about her life in Australia from her interview with The Daily Dish in 2017 above and below.
