Tyler Henry Remembers Reading Alan Thicke

Months before Alan Thicke died from a heart condition, the Growing Pains star met with Tyler Henry for a reading. The encounter was particularly chilling given that the Hollywood Medium star felt that the actor would face challenges with his heart shortly before he died from a “ruptured aorta” and a “standard type A aortic dissection” last December.

In retrospect, Tyler tells The Daily Dish how "surreal" that moment is now. "It was really surreal for me. I know that when I met with Alan he was a skeptic and [his wife] Tanya was all on board, but I think in reading him initially with our first meeting I brought through a lot of loved ones for him in addition to mentioning, obviously, his heart susceptibility. He got a lot of validation from these loved ones that came through."

Given that Alan was a skeptic upon meeting Tyler, the medium hopes that his sit-down with the actor gave him a better grasp on concepts like the afterlife. "For me, it feels good to know that I was able to meet with him in the last months of his life and let him know that there was something more," he said. "And so maybe I think that made his transition hopefully a little easier."

He also noted that he hopes going back to watch that reading with Alan's widow months after his passing offered her some closure. "Ultimately for Tanya, getting to see her after I think was really comforting too, because she had seen the readings happen before," he said. "She saw that this was real, so to have her husband pass away and then meet with me after I think gave a sense of validation and comfort. So to let her know that he was still with her was really important."
