6 Things You Didn't Know About Kim Kardashian's Bodyguard, Pascal Duvier

We’re all still reeling over the news that Kim Kardashian West was robbed at gunpoint in her Paris apartment over the weekend. But as more details emerge about her terrifying ordeal, we’re finding ourselves with more questions than answers, one of them being: where was her bodyguard, Pascal Duvier? 

For those who follow Kim on social media, you already know that Pascal is a major and constant presence in her life. In fact, just on Sunday, Kim posted a paparazzi shot to Instagram that featured Pascal in the background. The caption was fittingly, “This guy is always in my shot!” 

Just a few days before the robbery, Kim and Pascal were in the news when he tackled the prankster Vitalii Sediuk (same prankster who groped Gigi Hadid the week before) after he accosted Kim on her way into a Parisian restaurant. Kim even sang Pascal’s praises afterwards in a tweet saying, "My security @PascalDuvier is a G."

So where was Pascal during the robbery? Reports say that he was at a club, just two miles away from the apartment, with Kim’s sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner. According to reports from Reuters and PEOPLE, the five masked men wearing police markings were able to enter the apartment building after they held up the concierge at gunpoint. Kim’s friend, Simone Harouche, who was also in the apartment at the time of the break-in contacted Pascal immediately (since she was downstairs, she found safety by locking herself in the bathroom). Though Pascal has since made his Instagram and Twitter accounts private amid the criticism that he was out partying instead of doing his job, he did make his intentions in catching the thieves crystal clear to the Daily Mail saying, “The events that occurred in Paris was one of the most sickening things I have seen or heard. We have tips and leads and we will find you. That I promise you...you messed with the wrong one." 

While the details as to why Pascal left Kim at home alone are nil, one thing we know for sure is that Pascal has been a trusted part of Kimye’s life since Kanye’s Yeezus tour in 2014. So what else do we know about the headline-making man of mystery? Quite a few things, it turns out.

Pascal has been spotted with entrepreneurs including Jason Binn, executive director of the private jet company, JetSmarter. 

Pascal is the chairman of his own security and protection company called Protect Security that he started in 1997. His LinkedIn profile says, “My goal as the Chairman of Protect Security is build a security team around the protected person. We have affiliates worldwide and are also able to accommodate our clients thru them with tour/road management. chauffeur service, charters and local armed security (mainly law enforcement).”

Pascal has worked with an impressive roster of high-profile, A-list stars, specializing in concert tours. According to his LinkedIn profile, Protect Security has worked on tours for the Black Eyed Peas, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, David Guetta, Katy Perry, and more. Besides Kim and Kanye, they handle security for the entire Kardashian/Jenner clan, including Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall, Kris, and Kylie. Pascal is also Fergie’s go-to bodyguard (that is, whenever she can steal him away from her close friend, Kim). But despite all of Pascal’s intimate dealings with the stars, he is careful to avoid crossing boundaries. When a fan Tweeted to ask about his personal relationships with his famous clients, Pascal responded, “I'm hired to do a job, not be a friend."

Standing at 6'4'' and weighing 264 pounds, Pascal loves to flaunt his size, writing proudly on his Twitter and Instagram bios, “TMZ called me #BiggestBodyguardEver.” He was born in Germany and served in the German army before moving to the United States. Earlier this year, Pascal told High Snobiety, “At the time it was mandatory to enlist in Germany and I thought it was a good idea to do something for your country.”

Pascal’s Instagram bio says that he’s a lover of judo and the gym. He told High Snobiety that his diet consists of “Eating everything. Lots of fish and meat, fruit, pasta, rice, bread, and of course cake. I work out a lot and I need fuel to feed my body. Working out is essential for me, I love working out every day, and the most important thing is to switch up my routine.” But the muscle he focuses on the most is surprisingly not his pecs or glutes. “The most essential muscle a bodyguard should train is his brain,” he said. “You study everything; every move, your surroundings. I always pay attention to details and body language.”

Pascal is the proud father of two daughters, and as a dad he’s the proud wearer of the requisite fanny pack. Justdon’texpect to ever find out what he carries in there, or whether said belongings are used for dad or bodyguard duties—or both. He told High Snobiety, “I could [tell you what’s in my fanny pack] but then I would have to break your arms and cut your tongue out so you don’t tell anyone. Still interested?” he asked. Uh no, no we’re good!

Even though Pascal admits that he’s not “a fashionista,” he does know a thing or two about his boss’ fashion line. “I can say his shoes are comfortable and I do like the YEEZY 350s and the 950s in black or dark grey,” Pascal told High Snobiety. No word on if he’s ever tried a product that Kim endorses, but maybe he plays Kim Kardashian: Hollywood on some of the long plane rides he takes with her.
