See How Venita Aspen Transformed Her Kitchen with "Cute," Colorful, & Vintage Pieces (VIDEO)
"I completely flipped this kitchen upside down," the Southern Charm cast member said while giving a tour of her home.
In 2022, Venita Aspen told BravoTV.com a fun fact about her Charleston abode: it used to belong to Shep Rose.
“I got it blessed. I got Shep’s old apartment blessed three times,” the Southern Charm-er joked at the time. “Three different denominations. Not sure if that’s acceptable or not, but we did it.”
She added: “The first couple of days, I was like, OK, are girls gonna knock on the door and be like, ‘Is Shep still here?’ But luckily, I didn’t have to deal with that.”
In addition to changing the space from a bachelor pad to a "bachelorette pad," as she noted during Season 8 of Southern Charm, Venita recently gave us a full tour of her charming, stylish apartment, detailing how she made the place all her own.
How Venita Aspen transformed the kitchen in her Charleston home
In the video you can watch above, Venita brings us through her beautiful dwelling, first noting how she has "fresh flowers delivered every week" to keep things "lively."
Venita also shares how she turned her dining room into a walk-in closet to store all her fabulous fashions (because why not?). She then goes into the gorgeous kitchen, where the white cabinets have been spiced up with gold hardware, and the plain walls are now covered in blue-and-pink patterned wallpaper.
"I completely flipped this kitchen upside down," Venita says as the video pans through the space, showing off an adorable nook in the corner with a bench and several blue and white pillows. Another blue element? An incredible, retro-style baby blue refrigerator.
"When you first came in, the fridge was big and ugly and in this corner," she explains. "I didn't have wallpaper, so...there was no need for me [to have] a refrigerator that was so large when I first moved in. So I decided to get this cute little vintage one, which is perfect for one."
Elsewhere in the kitchen, we also see plenty of pastel-colored glassware as well as a large brown wood table with — you guessed it — fresh flowers.
Venita Aspen shares her renter-friendly hacks
Speaking with BravoTV.com in September, Venita shared a few suggestions for renters trying to spruce up an otherwise dull space. Her top tricks include "picking colors that are easier to paint over" for walls and adding "backing" to anything mounted or added so it doesn't leave damage when you leave.
"I just added some sconces over my bed, and instead of doing wiring through the wall, they're just [the] plugged-in kind," she shared. "You just get cord covers on Amazon to make it look sleek and chic instead of having to drill holes and mess with wiring. And don’t be afraid to ask your landlord to switch something up."
Venita added: "I just wanted to be able to create the space and make it my own, and I feel like a lot of renters are afraid to actually do that, but you have to live here every single day. Just find fun alternatives. My wallpaper is a big old sticker. It's not going to damage the walls. I definitely came in and transformed it and made it my little oasis."
