This Is How You Nail a Perfect Smoky Eye
Bravo’s Project Runway makeup artist Grace Lee shows us how to recreate a grungy smoky eye fresh off the catwalk.
Black may be a simple choice when it comes to your wardrobe, but in the realm of makeup, there is nothing subtle about this bold hue. Adding a touch of this dark shade to your beauty look is a power move — and as we recently saw on Bravo’s Project Runway, nothing makes a statement quite like a sultry black smoky eye.
On last week’s episode, Grace Lee, makeup artist for Maybelline New York, created a black smoky eye with a hint of dark green on a model to complement one of the designers' fierce ensembles. The stunning eye makeup added an instant edge factor to the model’s style.
Below, Lee gives us the full breakdown of this beauty look, including her simple smoky eye method. Trust us, you don’t need to be a pro to slay this glam.
Step 1: Apply Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation all over your face for a glowing complexion.
Step 2: Brighten the under eye area by applying Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer.
Step 3: Define your brows by filling them in with Maybelline Brow Precise Micro Eyebrow Pencil.
Step 4: To create the base of your smoky eye, use Maybelline Tattoo Studio Eyeliner Pencil in Deep Onyx as liner all the way around the eye and then smudge it out with a brush so it gives you a good base for the eyeshadow.
Step 5: Sweep the darkest green matte shadow in the Maybelline The City Mini Palette in Urban Jungle with a small shadow brush and blend it in along the crease of your eye for a smoky effect.
Step 6: To contour your face, use a bronzer brush and sweep Maybelline City Bronzer along the hollows of your cheekbones and jawline.
Step 7: Lightly dab on Maybelline Facestudio Master Strobing Stick in 100/Light along the high points of your cheekbones.
Step 8: Finish the look with a swipe of Maybelline Shine Compulsion Lipstick in Baddest Beige on your lips.
