Sofia Richie Wants to Be Thought of as Her "Own Person"
The model describes life in the shadow of her father Lionel Richie.
Sofia Richie is the daughter of Lionel Richie, the Platinum-selling, globally famous singer and songwriter who has sold millions of albums worldwide over the past several decades. And, as the model who finally turned 20 last month shared, there is a certain pressure to be the daughter of someone that famous and impactful.
"My dad had me in singing lessons from a really young age and I've played piano with my dad growing up, so I have that part of me," she told Sydney Morning Herald. "But it's a lot of pressure, my dad is a really respected soul singer and I feel like that is a lot of responsibility. To take it on, I'd have to do it 100 per cent and I'm not ready to do that."
She feels like people may misunderstand her if she tried to be a recording artist.
"I don't want people to think I am trying to burn down my dad's hard work," she said. "I have to try and find my own way ... But I can also never get away from the fact my dad is Lionel Richie either."
“I’m not upset that I have to answer these questions, but there are moments that I have where I’m like, ‘I want to be my own person, I want to stand as my own person,’” she told The Morning Show on Australian TV, who also asked about her dad.
As for the other main man in her life, her romance with Kourtney Kardashian ex Scott Disick still seems to be going on strong.
"We are very happy, very lovey dovey," she told Sydney Morning Herald. "We have always had that best friend connection and from there it has really worked out. I am so happy."
