Maria Menounos Is Leaning on Kim Kardashian for Help With Surrogacy
The radio host has input from someone who knows the process first-hand.
Anyone considering surrogacy could do worse than to have Kim Kardashian as a confidante. The reality star famously welcomed her daughter Chicago via gestational surrogate in January, and knows the ins and outs of the surrogacy process. So, who better to dole out advice?
At a recent event in Los Angeles, Maria Menounos told Us Weekly that she's been leaning on the Keeping Up With the Kardashians sister as she considers hiring a surrogate for herself. Menounos has attemped to get pregnant via IVF in the past, but was unsuccessful; she also has been diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. All things considered, surrogacy might be a wonderful — and safe — option for her in her journey to parenthood with husband Kevin Undergaro. And, it sounds like the process is already underway!
"Miss Kim K. has connected me with all of her people,” Menounous said. “[My husband and I] are going to Greece this fall and we’re going to do another [wedding] ceremony. Once we get back, we’ll do it.”
And hopefully, Kardashian will be available as a sounding board throughout the process. Though she once wrote in a blog post that hiring a surrogate was "the best decision" she had ever made, the reality star also knows that the decision is a complex one. She once told E! News:
"It is frustrating, like, to not be able to do it on your own. It is a weird dynamic. Like I go to all the doctor's appointments and I try to be really present, but when you're not carrying it yourself, it is such a fine balance of how much you're going to be in their lives. Of course I want to know every last detail that's going on with my baby and that's super frustrating, but I really trust my surrogate and I don't want to be that person that's trying to control her every move. It's going to be a long hard process but I'm going to take it one day at a time and hopefully it just gets easier."
