Mandy Moore Summed Up Her First Marriage to Ryan Adams With "I Didn't Choose The Right Person" … And He Responded
Ryan Adams was quick to share his side.
Mandy Moore, who is currently engaged to musician Taylor Goldsmith, shared some candid thoughts about her 7-year marriage to musician Ryan Adams.
“Not the smartest decision," she bluntly told Glamour. "I didn’t choose the right person.”
She revealed to the publication that she felt "spiritually and fundamentally stuck" as they grew apart, and it affected her professional life and her friendships. She explained she's content with the decision to divorce.
“I don’t feel guilty for it," she said. "I don’t fault myself for it. When people said, ‘I’m sorry,’ I was like, ‘No. Sorry would have been had I stayed in a very unhealthy situation.’ I didn’t. I found my way out. And when I did, things opened back up again.”
Once social media started sharing soundbites of the interview, Ryan had something to say, too.
"She didn't like the Melvins or BladeRunner. Doomed from the start... If only I could remember the start lol," Ryan retorted to Mandy's "I didn't choose the right person" quote on Twitter.
According to PEOPLE, the couple weren't close for a long time before filing for divorce.
“They honestly hadn’t seen each other in forever,” an anonymous source shared. “There came a point where they almost never did. . . They really were just two very different people. He’s such an introvert, and she may not want her life out there every day, but she’s so sweet and friendly and social. Total opposites.”
