Who Is Tracy Tutor Maltas? Get to Know the Newest Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles Agent
She may be the new girl, but Tracy Tutor Maltas is definitely not new to real estate.
There's a new girl on the block this season of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles. Tracy Tutor Maltas joins this group of brilliant brokers as they take on major listings, hard-to-please clients, and some intense drama when Season 10 premieres on Thursday, November 2 at 9/8c.
You'll get a taste of the new girl by watching the above supertease of the season, and you can already tell that she's an amazing wife, mother, and, of course, real estate agent. "Don't be fooled by her charisma," Josh Altman warns in the trailer. "She's a boss."
We can't wait to get to know Tracy even better by following all of her triumphs and challenges this season of MDLLA. But we couldn't resist introducing you to Tracy as the new season begins because she's just too awesome to wait.
1. She's the First Female Agent in the History of MDLLA
This season of MDLLA brings us a first. The series will welcome its first female agent with Tracy as part of the squad in Season 10. "I love the show," Tracy recently told Bravotv.com. "I think it's exciting and a fun thing to be a part of."
2. She Has a History with the MDLLA Guys
Tracy may be new to MDLLA, but she definitely goes way back with the other members of the crew. Tracy and Josh Altman work together at Douglas Elliman, and she's the closest to him out of all the MDLLA guys, she recently told Bravotv.com. Tracy also used to briefly work at Partners Trust with James Harris and David Parnes before they left to work for different companies. "Josh Flagg I probably know, I would say, the least because we had never really been in a deal together before. I obviously crossed paths but didn't really have a professional relationship prior to the show," she said. "And finally, Madison [Hildebrand], I knew a little bit because we obviously both work in Malibu, so we are a little bit more familiar with each other."
3. Real Estate Is in Her DNA
Real estate runs in Tracy's family. "I grew up in a real estate family. My dad was a major public works contractor. Both my sister and my sister-in-law are interior designers. And my husband [Jason Maltas] is a residential contractor. So it is kind of a natural fit for me," she recalled about getting her start in real estate. "I think a large part of this business is sales, and you have to have that outgoing personality. And so, I thought for me, getting into this business felt like a natural progression after college. And so, that's where it started. And now almost 17 years later, here we are."
4. You'll Recognize Some of Her Past Clients
The MDLLA agents' clientele includes the biggest movers and shakers in California, and Tracy is no exception. She brokered the $11.8 million sale of a Malibu home to Ed Norton in July, and has represented other celebs like Channing Tatum (pictured above) in the past, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who named Tracy one of Hollywood's top 30 real estate agents in September.
5. She's a Family Woman
When Tracy isn't closing her next big deal, you can find her with her husband Jason and their two daughters. But achieving the perfect work-life balance isn't easy, Tracy admitted. "I think at least six times during the course of this season, you'll see me struggle with the balance between working hard and making time for my family," she told Bravotv.com.
6. She's a California Girl
Tracy was born and raised in California and has lived all over L.A., from Hidden Hills to the Hollywood Hills, according to her bio on Bravotv.com. She also attended the University of Southern California before going on to work for her father and then beginning her career in real estate after that.
7. She Has a Unique Approach to Sealing a Deal
Tracy told Bravotv.com that she takes a different approach than her good friend Josh Altman when it comes to closing a deal. "My style is my clients come first. I wouldn't say that I push things down people's throats all the time. I would say that when I'm negotiating a deal, I kind of figure out who I'm dealing with first. I don't come out of the gates with the same Josh Altman sort of take-no-prisoners kind of vibe. I like to assess the situation first, see who I'm dealing with, see what kind of brokers I'm dealing with, and then figure out how I'm gonna work with them," Tracy said. "And I think everybody's different. And I think every broker's different. So I think you have to know when to adjust your style, depending on who you're dealing with."
8. Expect Her to Throw Some Unforgettable Events
Tracy is kicking off this season of MDLLA with a bang. She'll be throwing an over-the-top and super stylish St. Tropez-inspired party (complete with rosé, sushi, and a "model-hot" DJ) to entice potential buyers for her Manhattan Beach co-listing with Josh Altman. "Yeah, that was a lot of fun. I mean, I do, I love to throw a party. I love to create a vibe both personally, which of course becomes a professional opportunity, I'm gonna take it to that next level. And it's fun to do, and I like creating a moment," she explained. "And when you're launching a house, particularly the magnitude of Manhattan Beach, it only felt appropriate to throw a party that was about rosé. So that's what we did, and we had a really good time doing it."
