High Contrast
Jeffrey shares his adoration for seeing his fellow decorators in action.
Watching the premiere episode of Million Dollar Decorators I could not help but think people watching would for certain think Nathan, Mary, Martyn, Kathryn, and myself must all be the most self-centered, pretentious people on TV. But truth be told I know for sure we all love what we do and work really hard at it 24/7!
In our field we are hired because we have a point of view, an opinion (and we all have plenty of them), but the results show in our work. The quality of what we do is obvious because we seek out the best of the best.
What I loved in this episode and what was most interesting to me is the staff and offices of my castmates. I only know how things work in my own office, so it is fascinating to see other people that do the same thing I do in their own individual environments and in their own inimitable way. There's such a nice contrast between us. You would never confuse my office for Mary's or Martyn's, and yet we all have the same obstacles to deal with on all our projects.
My first scene with Ross and I washing our dog Chessie prior to leaving for the office in the morning pretty much sums up our life -- we get up early and I always have at least one or two chores to do. . .
Kathryn's birthday party was such fun. She throws some of the best parties in L.A. There was plenty of hilarious conversation you didn't get to see at the dinner table. Any time you get seated next to Mary McDonald at dinner you know you are going to have a fantastic time. Oh. . .and the guacamole was delicious although who knows what was in it. Hey Otis, wash your hands next time you make make a batch!
I'm looking forward to seeing more great design as the season progresses. I know there are a couple of great projects on the show, so it's going to be exciting to see them all develop.
