Dr. Britten Cole Has Some Regrets After Getting a Tummy Tuck
The Married to Medicine Los Angeles doctor opened about about her plastic surgery and the painful side effects.
As an anesthesiologist, Dr. Britten Cole spends a lot of time preparing and monitoring patients before, during, and after surgeries. However, the Married to Medicine Los Angeles doc also knows what it's like to be the patient on the operating table.
During the latest episode of The DAILY DOSe — a YouTube series hosted by Britten and Dr. Kendra Segura — Britten got real about her thoughts on plastic surgery and opened up about her own experience. "I am personally not opposed to plastic surgery. I think that whatever makes you feel like a woman or a man, you should do that. I mean, I've had a little work done," Britten shared. It was then the mother of two revealed she had a tummy tuck.
Britten had the procedure done five years after her last baby. She later explained, "I did it because I just had that excess skin that working out just would not get rid of." She also said she had a "very uncomfortable recovery process." She explained, "I think after three weeks I felt pretty much fine, but for those three weeks you have to walk hunched over, so I had a walker. So, your back is killing you."
Britten also expressed some remorse for the procedure. When Kendra asked if she had any regrets, Britten quickly replied, "I do." Britten shared that she had an arthropathy after the surgery and had "shooting pains down the inside of my leg for months after." She added, "The pain was significant enough where I went to rehab — physical therapy to try to get rid of this pain." She added, "So, that's why I was regretful. I was like, 'You know what, I never should've had the surgery.' Maybe I could’ve just done some serious lipo[suction] and just had the tiniest little skin removal instead of doing a full tummy tuck."
Britten also revealed she experienced some loss of sensation in her stomach area. "Here's the other thing, when you have the surgery — any surgery — whenever they make an incision in that area, you cut all those nerve endings. So, you are not going to feel the same," she explained.
While Britten has some second thoughts about her own procedure, her opinions on plastic surgery, in general, haven't changed. "I'm still down for plastic surgery. I just think that, you know, it's not enough to know what you're gonna look like afterward, you want to know what you're going to feel like. And most people don't ask that and I think that's important." In the clip, they added, "Make sure to consult your surgeon for ALL possible surgical and non-surgical options."
