Caroline: Al Is the Most Adorable Man on the Planet
Caroline opens up about her amazing relationship with Al and preparing Lauren for married life.
Hello Again! We're already on Episode 3, I can't believe it, time is flying by.
This week was all about being a mom, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I will be the first person to brag about my kids; my adult kids. They've proven to me time and time again that they've grown into kind, hardworking, and productive men and woman. To say that I'm proud of them would be an understatement.
However, to get to the road of productive adults we definitely have hit a few bumps. I'm not that mom that says everything is ok, don't worry, it's not your fault. If they have to worry we need to address the situation. If things aren't going to be ok, we have to work through it. If it's their fault, they're going to hear it from me. To do any less than that would be a tremendous disservice to all of us. The truth sometimes hurts, but you deal with it and move on.
Lauren was in denial about certain things in her life that were long overdue for change. One of the issues was her relying on mom and dad for the luxury of our American Express Card. The card was given to them as a fall back in case of emergency to allow both Al and I peace of mind when they were in a bind. It was not meant for shopping sprees and restaurant experiences. Lauren was having a little bit of separation anxiety with the thought of giving the card up. Well Mrs. Scalia, the gravy train ends here. I'm happy to say she has seen the light and is standing on her own two feet.
Al is the most adorable man on the planet. He looks at me and still sees the 18-year-old girl he met 35 years ago. I love him to death for that and pray every single day that he doesn't get a stronger prescription for his glasses! Our time together is precious, whether it is a disaster on the tennis court (we're learning) or a night out to dinner, I'm so happy to have him to myself for that short period of time. His job is demanding and our home life is filled with a constant flow of family and friends. We try to balance as best as we can, it seems to be working so far. After 35 years, I would hope we have it down to a science!
The kids and their messes will always drive me crazy. I will never applaud them for cleaning their rooms or the kitchen after they've made a snack or a meal. I never was that person that did that. It's what you're supposed to do; it's not an act of bravery. From when they were little this was my position and still is to this very second. I'm glad they cleaned up the kitchen but I'm not going to be overwhelmed by it. Make a mess, clean it up, simple as that.
Albie and Brittany went to lunch and they seem to be giving their relationship another try. Keep watching folks. That's all I'm going to say about that. ;o)
